UNO Rules — Complete Guide
Everything you need to know to play UNO online, from setup to scoring.
Objective
Be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand. When you have one card left, you must call "UNO!" — or risk a penalty.
Setup
Each player is dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile. The top card is flipped to start the discard pile. If the first card is a special card, its effect is applied immediately.
How Turns Work
On your turn, you must play a card that matches the top of the discard pile by color, number, or symbol. If you cannot play, you must draw a card. After drawing, you may play the drawn card if it's valid, or pass your turn.
Card Types
Number Cards (0–9)
Played by matching the color or number on the discard pile. Each color has one 0 and two of each number 1–9.
Skip Card
The next player loses their turn. Can be played on a matching color or on another Skip card. Learn more about Skip →
Reverse Card
Reverses the direction of play (clockwise becomes counter-clockwise). In a 2-player game, it acts like a Skip. Learn more about Reverse →
Draw Two (+2)
The next player draws 2 cards and loses their turn (unless stacking is enabled). Learn more about Draw Two →
Wild Card
Can be played on any card. The player who plays it chooses the next color. Learn more about Wild Cards →
Wild Draw Four (+4)
The most powerful card. Changes the color and forces the next player to draw 4 cards. Learn more about Draw Four →
Wild Draw Eight (+8) — Custom Card
Exclusive to our game! Changes the color and forces the next player to draw 8 cards. There are 2 per deck. Use wisely.
Calling UNO
When you play your second-to-last card and have only 1 card remaining, you must call "UNO!" within a few seconds. If another player catches you before you call it, you draw 2 penalty cards.
Card Stacking (Optional)
When stacking is enabled, if a +2 is played on you, you can play another +2 to pass the penalty to the next player. The same applies to +4 and +8 cards. The penalty keeps growing until someone can't stack and must draw all accumulated cards. Learn more about stacking →
Winning
The first player to play all their cards wins the game. In our online version, the game ends immediately and shows the final standings.
